Dubious finances caused StefanGP to be rejected after its parent company AMCO was found to be not what it seemed

StefanGP just a fraud?

Developments in recent days have come as a shock to many, but to some very predictable.

For a while now there has been major doubts over the new teams. Lotus and Virgin, (Formally Manor) made it to at least one major test before the opening race in Bahrain and seem good to go for the whole season, however USF1 and Campos failed to make any test with major doubts over funding hanging over them.

Campos seem to have found themselves a backer in José Ramón Carabante who has taken a majority stake within the team. That has led to a name change from Campos to Hispania Racing and an unveiling of the car, less than two weeks before the first race.

USF1 however, ceased to exist on Tuesday as the workers at the Charlotte based team were ordered to down tools and stop working.

Formula 1 governing body the FIA confirmed that the USF1 team will not compete in the 2010 World Championship and that, furthermore, no team will be selected to replace the American outfit.

The FIA Statement:

"The USF1 Team have indicated that they will not be in a position to participate in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship. Having considered the various options, the FIA confirms that it is not possible for a replacement team to be entered for the Championship at this late stage.

Hispania unveil 2010 car in Murcia

The HRT team finally revealed its first Formula 1 car at a presentation event in Murcia on Thursday, as the Spanish squad officially launched its new look following Jose Ramon Carabantes' recent takeover.

With just eight days to go until the first practice session of the new season in Bahrain, the newly-confirmed Karun Chandhok and team-mate Bruno Senna pulled the wraps off the Dallara-designed chassis – simply named HRT – which features a dark grey livery with a white, red and orange stripe.

The unveiling, which took place at the Auditorio de Murcia in the south-eastern Spanish city of Murcia, was also attended by the squad’s new majority owner Carabantes, newly-installed team principal Colin Kolles and Spanish motorsport federation president Carlos Gracia.

Spanish businessman Carabante spoke of his pride at launching his country’s first F1 team and says its full Hispania Racing name reflects its native roots.

“The new HRT F1 Team, ‘Hispania Racing F1 Team’ is born in Murcia,” he said.

“I am proud to welcome you in Murcia where the team has its roots and to have given to my country the pride of the first ever Spanish Formula 1 team.
“The name of the team contains the word Hispania, which is not only the name of one of my companies, but Hispania was also the Roman name for the ...

Stefan GP denied 2010 F1 entry

Stefan Grand Prix's hopes of getting on the grid in 2010 as Team US F1's replacement suffered a blow on Wednesday night, when the FIA announced only 12 teams on its 2010 entry list.

Following weeks of speculation about the fate of the final slots of the grid, following US F1's uncertain future, the sport's governing body finally released the list of competitors for 2010.

Team US F1 was absent - with a note at the bottom stating the team had: "indicated that they will not be in a position to participate in 2010".

The FIA said no replacement could be considered so close to the start of the season.

"Having considered the various options, the FIA confirms that it is not possible for a replacement team to be entered for the Championship at this late stage," the FIA said.

"In the coming days the FIA will announce details of a new selection process to identify candidates to fill any vacancies existing at the start of the 2011 season."

The entry list also confirmed that Campos has been renamed HRT, and that BMW Sauber will retain the 'BMW' moniker for 2010 despite the German car manufacturer having pulled out of the sport last season.

The FIA also confirmed Sauber's team numbers - which has been uncertain for several months after it temporarily lost its entry. Pedro de ...
